Event

Improve your personal best at road races or discover completely new paths - trail running away from paved roads is the new running trend! More and more lonesome runners on natural footpaths in front of spectacular sceneries decorate the front pages of running gazettes. Longer and higher runs in extreme landscapes – that’s the current trend in the running scene.

The UltraRun (85.4 km and 2,440 m altitude difference) is an athletically challenging and scenically inspiring trail – perfect for ultra newcomers and for those who want to prepare for the world’s biggest runs. The charm of ultra runs in the low mountain range is the continually changing topography. Due to the moderate altitude the SAXOPRINT PfalzTrail is a perfect preparation for all classes.  A 16.8 and 32.7 km trail with a comparatively moderate altitude difference of 400 or 770 m is a perfect first step into trail running. A 8.8 km course for trail beginners is also suitable for (Nordic) walkers who can achieve the sports badge on this trail.

Discover and experience the Palatinate Forest in a sporting way: listen to the rhythm of your breath during extended ascents, feel your willpower and strength. Merge with nature and enjoy it!

Markers

It might be possible that arrows on the ground (saw dust, paint) and marker tapes on trees and the like will be missing or altered by rain, wind, vandalism or “orderly” fellow citizens. We highly recommend that runners not familiar with the place take along a map of trails or a print-out of our maps or a GPS (download see trail description). Maps and copies of our map are available at the race number pick-up. Participants must be able to find the way without any markers.

Timekeeping & Rating

At the SAXOPRINT PfalzTrail we measure the net time (time difference between passing the start and finish line). For the official ranking (1st – 3rd) we consider the gross time. The first, second and third winner will be awarded attractive cups and material prizes. Furthermore, there will be a tombola for the walkers.

Refreshments

We offer water, energy drinks, energy bars, nuts and fruit as well as several carbs.  We recommend to UltraRun and HalfTrail runners that they take along 1 to 1.5 liters of liquid, some energy bars and some money.

You will find more detailed information about the refreshment points on the respective trail websites!
